This unit is designed to introduce the principles of safety, accident prevention and risk assessment and to encourage learners to follow safe working practices in the animal unit.

the IAT syllabus states that guided learning hours for this module are 4 hours,
with learners expected to devote another 96 hours of their time to research and
assignment writing.
