There are many people that work in and around animal facilities, who are not hands-on animal staff.  These may be administrators, cleaners, electricians, engineers, plumbers, procurement or security personnel who are all vital to the smooth running of facilities, but do they know about the protections afforded to animals?

This four-week, self-paced, online course provides an introduction to the legislation and ethics of using animals in scientific procedures and provides valuable CPD.

This half-day workshop utilises exercises involving case studies for an interactive approach to refresh and update knowledge.  It emphasises the importance of the PIL Standard Conditions and how to comply with them, and ensures licence holders are aware of common licence non-compliances and how they are to be avoided.

This interactive workshop is ideal for both new and experienced Procedure Individual Licence holders (PILh) and Procedure Project Licence holders (PPLh) who wish to gain a deeper understanding of their obligations under ASPA, and how they can ensure compliance with the Standard Conditions associated with their licence.

This interactive course is ideal for new licensees and those new to surgical procedures and is the perfect follow on course for those that have recently completed PIL C.

This interactive course prepares individuals to join the Register which acknowledges those who by qualification, experience and personal conduct are considered as demonstrating excellence within the profession.

The interactive Support Staff course introduces delegates to the theory behind barriers and why we have them.  The tutor will also discuss:

  • Disinfection, sterilisation and filtration
  • How to monitor effectiveness of disinfection and sterilisation
  • Risks to barrier integrity
  • Common items that must cross a barrier
  • Common equipment and safe operation
  • Health and safety

Inductions provide essential health and safety information to new employees.  However, during busy working lives, how many people remember the legislation that is designed to ensure they leave work in the same healthy state that they arrived in?

Health and safety at work protects the wellbeing of employers, employees, visitors, the public and the environment and this refresher is designed to remind everyone of key information.

This essential workshop provides the opportunity for those involved in training and assessing to gain new ideas, insights and approaches in order to maximise their impact and effectiveness in the workplace.

Controls on the use of animals in research have existed in the UK since 1876. This refresher workshop provides details of the law relating to scientific research and testing involving animals in the UK. These were revised and strengthened with the introduction of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA) in 1986. In 2013, ASPA was amended to bring UK law into line with the requirements of EU Directive 2010/63, and new codes of practice and guidance have been introduced. UK regulations are widely regarded as some of the strictest in the world.
