The RSPCA’s Animals in Science Department is currently undertaking a research project examining how the academic environment might optimally support  the wider development and uptake of non-animal methods (i.e. the ‘R’ of replacement). To do so, we are conducting semi-structured interviews to explore the perceptions and experiences of students and researchers in relation to animal use and non-animal methods in scientific research. The interviews will explore how certain aspects of the research environment may shape awareness of and confidence in non-animal approaches.

We are looking to speak to:

·  students in their final year of either an undergraduateMasters, or PhD level degree within the biosciences

·  and researchers of earlymid, or late career stages undertaking procedures using animals that are regulated under the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act (ASPA) 1986.

Interviews will last approximately one hour and take place either online or in-person, at a time and location of your convenience. For more information, please see the participant information sheet attached.

If you fit into any of these categories and would like to take part or find out more, please contact animalsinscience@rspca.org.uk
